In international transport, what does "reliance rating" mean?

How to Calculate Class Dependency?

For example:

Rate for 45kg level: 10 yuan/kg

Rate for 100kg level: 9 yuan/kg

Rate for 300kg level: 8 yuan/kg

Suppose you have a shipment with an actual chargeable weight of 98 kg.

Freight calculated using the "actual" weight (98kg) and its rate (10 yuan/kg) = 98 kg x 10 = 980 yuan.

Since 98kg is close to 100kg, we try using the next "class" (100kg) and its rate (9 yuan/kg). The calculated class freight = 100 kg x 9 = 900 yuan.

Clearly, the freight calculated by "class" (900 yuan) is lower than the freight calculated by "actual" weight (980 yuan).

Therefore, when the airline permits "class dependency," the shipment can "rely on the class" – meaning you only need to pay the airline 900 yuan. If the airline does not allow class dependency, then there is no alternative; it must be charged according to the "actual" weight level, resulting in a payment of 980 yuan.

When Should You Rely on Class?

Class dependency should be applied only when two conditions are met simultaneously:

It is more cost-effective to rely on the class.

The airline permits class dependency.

Both conditions are indispensable.

First, whether relying on the class is cost-effective is only known after calculation and comparison. When the airline allows it and the chargeable weight is close to a higher weight level, it's always best to calculate. If the class rate is cheaper, then use it.

Second, note that not all airlines accept class dependency.
