① Major World Routes

  1. North Atlantic Route:

Western Europe (Rotterdam, Hamburg, London, Copenhagen, St. Petersburg) and Northern Europe (Stockholm, Oslo) — North Atlantic — East Coast of North America (New York, Quebec, etc.) and the South Coast (Port of New Orleans, via the Florida Strait).

2. Asia-Europe Route (Suez Canal Route):

East Asia (Yokohama, Shanghai, Hong Kong, etc., via the Taiwan and Bashi Straits), Southeast Asia (Singapore, Manila, etc.) — Strait of Malacca — Indian Ocean (South Asia: Colombo, Mumbai, Calcutta, Karachi, etc.) — Gulf of Aden — Red Sea — Suez Canal (Alexandria) — Mediterranean (Tunis, Genoa) — Strait of Gibraltar — English Channel (Strait of Dover) — Western European countries.

3. Cape of Good Hope Route:

West Asia (Abadan, etc., via the Strait of Hormuz), East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia — Indian Ocean — East Africa (Dar es Salaam) — Mozambique Channel — Cape of Good Hope (Cape Town) — Atlantic Ocean — West Africa (Dakar) — Western Europe. Vessels with a payload exceeding 250,000 tons, which cannot pass through the Suez Canal, need to bypass the Cape of Good Hope at the southern tip of Africa.

4. North Pacific Route:

East and Southeast Asia — Pacific Ocean — West Coast of North America (San Francisco, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seattle, etc.). This is a major international trade route between Asia and North America. With the economic development of East Asia, the trade volume on this route is continually increasing.

These four routes are among the busiest in the world. The North Atlantic route is the busiest maritime transport route globally, while the Cape of Good Hope route has the largest volume of oil transportation, known as the "Maritime Lifeline" for Western countries.

5. Panama Canal Route:

North America's East Coast — Panama Canal (Panama City) — Ports on North America's West Coast. This is a shortcut connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, holding significant importance for connecting the US East and West Coasts.

6. South Pacific Route:

A passage between countries in the Asia-Pacific region (Sydney, Wellington) — Pacific Ocean (Honolulu) — West Coast of South America (Lima, Valparaiso, etc.).
